How to clean your mattress

Next time you change the sheets, consider this great mattress cleaning tip and do a quick and easy spring clean of your mattress. Mattresses accumulate dust, dust mites, sweat (which can cause it to get stinky over time) and other stains. For an easy deodorizing: Mix 1-2 cups of baking soda and a few drops of the essential oil of your choice (lavender is a good choice for the bedroom) and shake it in a covered bowl.  Put the mixture in a sifter or strainer and shake over the naked mattress.  Leave for a couple hours and then vacuum thoroughly.

For older, dirtier mattresses try spritzing the mattress with white vinegar and then sifting baking soda over the damp mattress. It will bubble. Cover with a couple towels and leave for and hour and then vacuum (this won’t hurt your towels at all, as a matter of fact you are killing two birds with one stone and deodorizing the towels. Just throw them in the wash).

To treat blood, urine or other tough stains, scrub with a little peroxide and rub with a clean damp cloth.

This cleaning tip not only will clean and deodorize the mattress but also leave a light clean scent in the room too!
