Brass cleaning tip

Before using this cleaning tip, determine if your brass is solid or plated. Plated brass pieces need a little more care so as to not wear off the brass plating. If a small magnet doesn’t stick to the piece, it is solid brass.  To clean; use soapy warm water and a microfiber cleaning cloth and dry.  For tougher cleaning jobs,  coat the piece with ketchup and leave for an hour or so before rinsing.  Another trick:  mix equal parts flour, salt and vinegar to make a paste and coat the piece and let sit for up to an hour- rinse and dry.
