BLACK MOLD

Testing and identifying mold in your home.

Mold Varieties

There are many types of molds that can infest homes and businesses. While some are more harmful than others, the CDC recommends removing any mold you find. It isn’t always obvious when you have mold growing. It can grow behind walls, in attics, and basements. The rule of thumb is if there is anywhere that is consistently damp, or you have had a water leak in your home, you probably have some mold growing that should be dealt with.

Mold Types: Allergenics, Pathogenics and Toxigenics

Allergenic

Molds that cause and produce allergies and allergic reactions such as asthma attacks.

Pathogenic

Molds that cause health problems in those suffering from an acute illness.

Toxigenic

Molds that produce toxic substances that can lead to dangerous or even deadly health conditions. This is sometimes referred to as “toxic mold.”

Testing For Black Mold

If you have no visible mold, but still suspect its presence we recommend purchasing a test kit. There are several types available at most big box stores, but we recommend the Mold Detective. We have these for sale, they can be picked up online or purchased at some big box stores. Once you determine the mold levels in your home or business we will help determine a treatment plan for you.

Mold Removal

We’ve outlined the most common methods of mold removal and how they compare to each other. Take the time to educate yourself on how these different methods can help, or hurt, your efforts to create a mold-free environment. Mold spores are easy to disturb and can seep into ventilation systems causing them to quickly spread around. For questions or to schedule a consultation, please contact us today.
